Winter Activities in Mt Buller

Mt Buller offers a wide range of mountain activities ranging from relaxing sunset picnics on the summit to thrilling cross country mountain biking adventures, Mt Buller offers a unique way to enjoy the alpine environment.

Some of the activities to choose from;

Indoor Rock Climbing, Abseiling and Archery Sessions are conducted by Australian Alpine Institute staff and can be tailored to suit your needs. No experience is necessary, however you must be of moderate fitness.

Gym & Sports Clubs A world class gymnasium, managed by a full time Fitness Instructor to ensure you achieve you fitness goals. Located on the 1st floor of the Buller Community Centre Building. Gymnasium Hours: 1pm to 9pm. Sports sessions are held regularly at the gymnasium.

Alpine Museum Explore the fascinating history of Mt Buller at the historical Alpine Museum. Learn about the mountain's original characters and marvel at an eclectic collection of ski memorabilia just as wooden skis & sleds, leather boot, through to snowboards from the late 80s. It also features a variety of photographs, snowmobiles. clothing, badges, publications, maps and lift equipment.

Alpine Spa Retreat Located in the Breathtaker All Suite Hotel at Mt Buller, it is fully equipped with state of the art facilities including a lap pool, geisha tubs and steam rooms and offers an extensive range of treatments and custom made programs designed to relax, de-stress, pamper and rejuvenate. Individual or couples packages are available featuring a selection of Breathtaker's massages, body wraps, facial therapies and wellbeing treatments.

Cinema The latest releases are screened every evening throughout the season in Mt Buller's 180 seat cinema. Usually two movies a night are screened, and on a bad weather days daytime sessions are available. There's a great little kiosk stocked with yummy goodies that is available to you through your movie. The cinema is located within the Mt Buller Community Centre.

Cross Country Skiing Cross country skiing provides a great physical workout and is suitable for people of all ages and abilities. While Mt Buller is renowned for its downhill slopes, they also have 9km of cross country trails that circle aroun the back of the Village.

Figgles Figgles or short skis are great alternative to traditional skiing, while still using the same skill set. Available from most on-mountain rental outlets, figgles allows you to add a new dimension of freedom and variety to your skiing. Figgles are available to hire from George's Ski Hire.

Night Skiing Ski and snowboard under the stars every Wednesday and Saturday from mid July until September, on Mt Buller's popular Bourke Street run. When the sun goes down, the lights come on allowing for night skiing between 7pm and 10pm.

Scenic Chairlift Ride Explore the mountain, simply by jumping on either the Horse Hill or Blue Bullet 1 chairlifts and enjoy a breathtaking ride across Mt Buller's slopes.

Snowshoeing Hire a pair of snow shoes and explore the winter wonderland on foot. Whether you want to trek to the summit to watch the glorious sunset or explore the Mt Buller back country playground with deep snow amoung the trees, you'll discover a side of the mountain you haven't seen before. Suitable for all ages.

Snow Tubing Snowtubing (located near Spur's Cafe) is something the whole family will have fun doing. Sit or lie in an over sized inflated rubber tube and feel the adrenaline rush as you spin your way down the channels of the snowtubing park.

Tobogganing Families with kids of all ages love the exhilarating experience of tobogganing! Mt Buller has two designated areas used for tobogganing. One located next to Celia's Cafe and the other next to the Post Office in the Village. Toboggans are available for hire from most on-mountain rental outlets.
